ISW Pre-Conference and Spring Institute 2017

Theme - Building Resilience in Times of Change Pre-Conference Day - Exploring Appreciative Resilience

The ISW Spring Institute Pre-Conference Day will give attendees an opportunity to explore Appreciative Inquiry practices applied to resilience under the leadership of Jeanie Cockell and Joan McArthur-Blair, senior ISW Facilitators and Trainers, and authors of Appreciative inquiry in higher education: A transformative force. Their forthcoming second book is focusing on Appreciative Resilience. Join us for an opportunity to explore in advance the ideas and practices they will share in that book.

Spring Institute - Building Resilience in Times of Change

The ISW Spring Institute is designed for both new and experienced facilitators and trainers in the ISW program. The Institute provides participants with opportunities to share their insights and challenges and to draw on each other’s experiences and expertise within a collegial environment. Our theme for this year's Institute is Building Resilience in Times of Change. We will use a variety of small and whole group discussion and presentation formats. Some activities will be pre-planned, and others will evolve from an ongoing needs assessment as the event progresses. Please come prepared to share ideas, innovations, problems, philosophies and visions related to our theme and ISW.

Who are the Institute facilitators?

As in past years, all participants serve as resources in this community-building institute by providing ideas and suggestions for each other within a variety of group activities. Jeanie Cockell will serve as “process facilitator” for the Institute and will be working with a Planning Committee comprised of several individuals, most of whom have participated in at least two other ISW Institutes. Several past participants will serve as session facilitators during the event.

Where you’ll be

The ISW Pre-Conference and Spring Institute will be at the Lac Le Jeune Resort & Nature Centre about 45 minutes drive (54 km) from Kamloops Airport or four hours drive (325 km) from Vancouver International Airport via the Coquihalla Highway (BC Hwy#5 North). Lac Le Jeune Resort & Nature Centre is located on the shore of Lac Le Jeune at the end of Lac Le Jeune Road. Outdoor activities include fishing for or watching rainbow trout jump 3-4 feet out of the water, wildlife photography and viewing, rowing or paddling on the lake, bird watching, geo-caching, mountain biking, hiking, and ball games on the lawn. We will be living and learning together in a relaxed atmosphere of good humour and fun. Additional information about the setting and logistics will be sent to individuals upon receipt of their registration. You can visit the Lac Le Jeune Resort & Nature Centre website: http://laclejeuneresort.com for information on the site. This includes directions and a map explaining how to get to the Centre from your location.

There is complimentary Wi-Fi in all our meeting rooms and throughout the resort property.
